Facts about Anhui
Anhui is located in the eastern part of China. It is an integral part of the country’s most economically dynamic region—the Yangtze River Delta. It is about 570 km from south to north and 450 km from east to west, covering an area of 140.1 thousand square kilometers, about 1.45 percent of the total area of the country. By the end of 2019, the total number of permanent residents in Anhui was 63.659 million.
Friendly External Exchanges
The province has built multiple contacts with many foreign countries and regions, and established communication relations with more than 70 foreign friendly organizations. In addition, the province has also established links with nearly 200 overseas Chinese organizations. The province signed Agreement of Co-building Friendly Associations with 29 overseas Chinese societies and business chambers. The vigorous exchanges with the outside world have developed friendly relationships with the foreign countries and regions, promoted the mutual understandings and friendships. As a result, a multi-level, multi-channel, omnidirectional and diversified pattern of opening-up to the outside world has been formed in Anhui.
Foreign Invested Enterprises
The province attempts to construct a favorable legalized, globalized and convenient environment for business operation. It has adopted a series of persistent policies to encourage foreign investment and to widen the flexible use of foreign funds so as to promote the development of the province’s economy. Of the world’s top 500 enterprises, 84 have set up enterprises in Anhui by means of setting up joint ventures or independent ventures, with an increase of 4 new enterprises. Their investments involve more than 30 sectors such as new energy vehicles, equipment manufacturing, electronics and electrical appliances, new materials, modern finance and integrated services.
Ecological Resources
The good environment, particularly the mild weather, plentiful precipitation and loamy soil, make Anhui an ideal habitat for many sorts of animals and plants. The Chinese (Yangtze) alligator and Chinese river dolphin (white-fin dolphin) are rare animals in the world that live in the Yangtze River flowing through the middle of Anhui. The province has designated and constructed a number of national, provincial or municipal natural protection areas, of which, 8 are of national significance, and 30 are of provincial significance. The total artificial stands established by the province in 2019 covers an area of 51.2 thousand hectares.
